What a week! It all started with the news last Friday that the hospital missed the fact that my grandmother has a cracked hip and a dislocated shoulder, so to Brookwood we go. We went for a visit Sat. morning and to lift her spirits, by bringing a very alert, great-grandson..... that tried to remove her IV. After LOTS and LOTS of tests to see why she was falling so much we were given the official word on Wed. that she has cancer. Because of where it is there is no surgery. It started in her pancreas (Is that how you spell it Nicole?) and has moved to her liver. She will be getting some treatment every other week and we were told the chemicals are not too strong so she will not lose her hair. Please keep us in your prayers as it has been tough for me, she is the only grandparent I have left, and my parents. My grandmother was a single parent to my dad, she has also been my mom's mom for 27 years, since my mom's mom died when I was two.

After our trip to the hospital Sat. Eric was not feeling well when we got home, he thought it was something he ate. Well, Sun. we discovered it was not something he ate because that afternoon I was sick. I went to the doc on Mon. thinking I had the flu but the test was negative. Instead I was diagnosed with a stomach virus, bronchitis and a sinus infection. So, needless to say we have been recovering. Corban has decided he can go all night without eating but still wakes up a couple of times..... it really is good progress!

He's got the whole world in His hands

There are so many things to be grateful for over the past few months; my new job, favor with my manager, good Christian people at work, exceeding my sales goals and my wonderful family. But something happened Fri. that chills to the bones and reminds us that only God is in control. Eric's mom, Gail, found a job a while back as a manager of a check cashing store. Friday afternoon there were some guys that decided to rob the store. A lady in the parking lot saw the guys get out of the car with the guns and called 911. Gail also saw the coming and hit the police panic button. She and her 19 year old employee were held, with guns to their heads, and were told to get on the floor. Gail had already started taking money out of the register when she saw them in the parking lot. They demanded to know where the safe was and Gail told them there was no safe, there really isn't, they then demanded to know where more money was and they directed them to some drawers where they took the rest of the money. They forced Gail and the girl to hide and they took off back out the front door. There was one policeman there who saw what was going on and shot out the tire of their car. It turned into a police chase, the robbers wrecked the car and one guy was caught in the car while another ran and they caught him on foot, they are still looking for one more guy. I don't think she is going to go back to work there, not that I blame her. Pleas keep them in your prayers, Eric's dad has not had a job in months and now this with his mom. Please pray for jobs and for God's healing of a tramatic experience.

work

Work is good. My manager is pleased with me, she is also the one who hired me. My sales goal for the month of Sept was non-existant, because newbies don't have a goal their first month on the floor. The next 3 months are steps up to the expected sales goals. Well, I managed to hit the goal of a full time employee as though I had been there 4 months (the top tier). I have been told that I have to stay in my department for 12 months before I can put in for another department. I would really like to get into mortgage or business banking and work my way up to being an underwriter or a personal banker. I have also been told that if my sales are good that I may can change departments faster..... GOd has really shown favor in my life and at work . My desk at work is literally sourrounded by Christians. I mostly talk to Reubin and Chris. Reubin is an older man and with it has some good wisdom. Chris was one of my ojt coaches and is a youth pastor at his church. His wife had to have an emergency c-section a couple of weeks ago, they had to put her under b/c the epidural didn't work and she was shaking from the pain, please keep her in your prayers.

Corban 7 months

- has 2 bottom teeth
- is dealing with his double ear infection
- has decided that sleeping at night is over rated.... even more than before
- has been saying mama for a couple of weeks eventhough Eric won't admit it.
- decided this weekend he could say dada too
- when he wants someone to hold him he doesn't reach for them he leans head first towards the person
- loves to bounce.... on anything, even if it is not supposed to bounce
- loves to sit up- if an object is out of reach he doesn't crawl to it he just leans over and falls on his head in that direction
- in the past he has managed to army crawl but no real crawls yet
- he can get up on hands and knees but it stops there
- his favorite toy is the tv remote
- he is not a fan of socks or shoes..... they end up in his mouth
- EVERYTHING ends up in his mouth
- he is starting to try and pull up.... mostly with 2 fist fulls of my hair.....

The dreaded phone call

So Corban has been running a temp this past weekend. We gave him tyolenol and motrin and they both did the trick. While Corban's first tooth didn't bother him much this second one, we thought, was giving him fits. Well he went to daycare yesterday and Eric and I went to work. After lunch Eric went to the Calera Chamber gold tournament to help out. Around 4:20 he gets a phone call from Corban's daycare. Corban has a temp of 104. something and is lethargic. THey stripped him down and put wet cool towels on him. Eric was there within 5 minutes and was on hold with the ped. office as he arrived. Eric quickly gave Corban some tyolnol and headed north. The ped office said that he could either go to after hours or they could see him in the morning. Eric was on his way to Children's after hours. In the mean time I walk out of my building at work and check my voice mail. Its Eric and Che says Corban's temp is 104 and they are on their way to Children's. I am off to Children's as fast as I can go.... When they were taken back Corban's temp had dropped to 102.5. I arrived and the staff was super nice, they sent me back to Corban's room. The doc was also super nice. She initially though it would be a virus since his temp was so high, but after looking in his ears determined it was a double ear infection. ... which was triggered by the cold he had almost a month ago....

Oh how I LOVE the fact that

my almost 7 month old can pull his diaper off..... yay.

Quick updates...

After Corban's surgery he is a different kid... not even half the spit up.
His hind quarters are healing nicely.
He will be 7 months old on the 20th... too fast!!
He can sit up by himself.
He likes to "talk"
He has discovered how to "bounce" in his bouncy thingie
He is on stage 2 foods.
Still no visible teeth, I can feel one on top though... leave it to my kid to do everything backwards.
He likes his teacher at daycare.
He got his 1st cold the week before last.... so sad!!!!

I managed to find a paci clip that doesn't use velcro so maybe he will not rip it off.
Corban's cousin Connor should be here Nov. 14th ish.
Corban has another cousin on the way, Eric's sister, its a girl, due to arrive in late Jan.
I like my new job, now that we are done with the "classroom" training and are on the phones the day flies by....... I talk to some very, stupid, um, interesting people.
Eric is still busy with the chamber and city council...... that he is still not "officially" on.
The chamber is gearing up for the Christmas parade....
Eric is also doing Relay for Life for the 3rd year running.
I am helping my dad coach some volleyball, when I can...
And that is what is going on in our world... oh, I need to remember to order ornaments form Cristal, I know if I put that on here I will read it later and remember to do it.....
