The sling decision......

I forgot!!!! I think I am going to end up taking the boppy sling back. As I was going through my closet baby stash I found a snugli. I had forgotten that mom and dad got it at the mommy and kids market, which I hear is going to be back in Feb. some time. The snugli will be good because Eric will be able to use it too. It also holds more weight so I can use it longer. I know I will need to use it this fall during volleyball season seeing as how he will go on the road with me.... The diapers I am sending to mom and dads are going to be the bigger sizes. I have already been given sizes 2-6 and I need room for the newborns here. Besides mom and dad's is only 10 minutes down the road and we are there at least once a week anyway. I had originally registered for a wipe warmer but I think I ended up taking it off for some reason. Are they really that good to have? Since this is my first kid and all I really don't know what I am needing and wanting. You know those things you don't think you need but you really do.

Honey's home

Yay! Eric came home last night. I finally got some good hard sleep. They had a shower at work for me yesterday and I got lots of good stuff. I will have to post some pics of my favorites. I got a little while beanie cap with a john deere tractor on it. It is so cute, and tiny. It is hard to believe that it will fit on his little noggin. Jennifer and Michael got us a cute onsie that has an airplane on it with Corban's name on it. I also got some outfits and toys and diapers and bath stuff. Oh, and don't for get the cash!!!! I do have a few things I am going to take back I think. We ended up with a million blankets. Who can blame the fact that Target is having an awesome clearance on their winter stuff? I have to get my lesson plans together for the next 4 weeks!!!!!!!!! If I taught math that would be easy. But for history and bible?!?!?!?! Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do. We have one more shower that is a diapes and wipes shower from Eric's work next Fri. While it will be great I really have no idea where we will put them, I guess it will be off to mom and dads to store them.

Question: Someone gave us a Boppy carry- in- comfort sling. Have you ever used one? Did you like it? I think it is neat but I don't know that I would use it. Trying to decided if I should return it or not. Maybe I will wait till he gets here and try it once and then if I don't like it take it back.... this thing is $35.99 at walmart...... thats alot of cash!

All by myself....

Well, not really, after all Zoe is here too. Is is funny though she has been searching the entire house for Eric, she will go peek in the bedroom every hour or so looking for him. Since I spend lots of time grading homework and tests in the evenings he is the one who spoils her by petting her and letting her curl up in his lap. She is having a hard time with me because I have SSSSOOOOOO much to grade and get together tonight. I am also having to plan for baby arrival at any point lesson plans.... which is very hard to do cuz it could be in a week or in 3 weeks, but I have to be ready. I wish Eric was home. He should get back Wed. night though, after my school shower. The funeral is at 11 so maybe afterwards he will come on home. Good thing I learned how to make pancakes..... man, Corban stays hungry. I had rayman noodles at 4:30, guess it is time to eat again......

Well, yesterday was my shower and Eric and I are so blessd to know such great people. So, thank you to eveyone who gave, donated and worked to make it such a great day!

News; Granny called last night and Edward (Eric's birth father) passed away yesterday. Please keep her in your prayers. It looks like Eric may leave today to head for Fl. depending on when everything is.....

Another prayer request....

As many of you read, last month, on Eric's blog he went to Fl. to meet his birth father. He has Mestasis and was given, at the time, only 8 months to live. Well, last night Granny called, his birth father's mom, and said the Edward was not eating anything and that they had brought in hospice. They are expecting him to pass any day now.
Things to pray for;
1. this is Granny's only child and she needs God's peace and strength.
2. Eric's older brother Chris (it is his birth father too) that it would be a wakeup call for him to change his lifestyle.
3. Eric, that God would give him the words to say to both Chris and Granny.
4. Me, It is only 29 days till I am due but as many of you know babies don't excatly come when they are "scheduled" to. The thought of Eric being 5 hours away and the possibility of me going into labor makes me uneasy. But, I do want him to go to the funeral, whenever that may be.

I confess....

I am looking forward to Sunday. It will be an action packed day. First off is church and since it is friend Sunday we are having lunch afterward. After lunch my shower will start at 2. While I am a bit uncomfortable having something that is for me I am still excited. If you are not busy you can stop by and say hello! I have another confession.... I sometimes look at my registry on-line and see has been taken off.... shhhhh don't tell....

Inauguration Reaction

If you have 5 minutes you need to hear this "prayer" he offered. I don't know what god he was "praying" to but it is definately not mine. Go to http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27721638/vp/28738420#28738420 he is the former president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Where he says

"...Help us to hold on to our fellowship and the oneness of our family. Let us take that power back to our homes, our work places, our churches our temples, our mosques. Wherever we seek your will."
Um, who's will are you seeking buddy? Another statement that made me mad was...

"...Lord we ask you to help us to work for that day when black will not be asked to get back. When brown can stick around. When yellow will be mellow. When the red man can get ahead man and when white would embrace what is right."

What do you mean when white will embrace what is right? Who are you to tell me what is right? My bible tells me what is right. Are you saying that all white people are wrong in everything or just that all white people are racist?!?!?!?!?!?!? But did this "prayer" make your local news? NOPE! If a white person thad said when black would embrace what is right then we would be getting sued and racial discrimination would be all over the news. I don't like Obama just because of his politics, I don't care what color he is... I didn't like Clinton either!!!! There are stupid white people out there, and in general just stupid people out there. But don't put me in a catagory and assume I don't know what is right because I am white, you know since I picked my race and all....

Sorry, this just put me over the top. But don't tell me not to be racist and then make a remark about every race that exists. Notice the only people he embraced where black and brown people.... ok, I'm done. But what do you think?

Doc visit

All is well, except for the swelling. They checked everything out though just in case.... too much swelling is a sign of preclasmia. I had to take that "fun" strep test, yippie. He ordered me to watch my salt and drink tons of water and to put my feet up whenever I can. I have officially put on 35lbs, which would be hard to believe except now even my maternity pants are getting too small.... go figure.

Hodge podge

I think we might get Corban dedicated in this outfit. It has a little blue hat thing that goes with it. Mom got it for him for Christmas.

This is Zoe. She is full grown and we are guessing 4-5 years old. She is a mutt but I have learned most of the time mutts make the best pets. We got her a pink collar with sparkles.. the one she had on was green. Now she is all girl! When she is happy or excited she will "dance" by standing up on her back paws and raising her front paws into the air, I will try to get this on video, it is so cute!

Where to start? I had lots of fun at the Celine concert Thurs. night! Our seats were in the nose bleed but before Celine came out we helped our selves to some empty ones on the lower level. One of her dancers kept my attention the whole time. It was in the girl costumes and looked like it had a chest but was bald and had man arms and legs.... I don't think we will ever know.....

Corban has been hours of entertainment. He is awake more often now and apparently likes to dance (he also loved the concert). Last night for an hour or so Eric and I were able just to sit there and watch my tummy move, he was rolling all around. Eric would talk to him and he would move again. He loves to stick his foot on my right side, you can see his heel impression in my tummy.

This weekend was crazy. It all started Thurs. night with the concert and getting a doggie. Friday we recieved a phone call that a good friend of ours dad had passed away earlier that morning. Since she is over the ladies ministries and I am one of the "helpers" it was my job to get the prayer chain started and see to the family. Another "helper" Ann was also on the ball. Friday afternoon we packed up Zoe and headed to Eric's parents for his mom's suprise birthday party. Saturday we arrived back from Oxford just in time to get al dolled up and head out to a visitation and funeral of one of Eric's co-workers, and friend. Eric sang "It Is Well With My Soul" at the grave site service. From there we headed to walmart to get stuff for dinner, with my family, and some sexy 2 sizes too big shoes for my massive feet and ankles. All of the fam came over for "breakfast" dinner, Corban's favorite, YUM. Sunday was off to church and to the visitation of my friend's dad. Today I am off work but I have a dr appt. at 3. I am going to get some school work done today... I have a ton of it!!!!!!!

Joy: This morning at 11 is Josh's funeral. I am not going to make it because I would have had to go alone to Decatur and my family didn't like that too much.....

Rachel, Sharon and Vicki: Will have the funeral for her father, Sharon's step father, and Vicki's husband today at 2.

Please keep these families in your prayers.

Guess what we got?!?!?!?

Did you guess??? We got a Zoe.... well if you want me to be specific, she is a doggie. She is a mutt but has some beagle and terrier in her. She is completely house trained as far as the restroom goes... she is still warming up though.... I will post pics later. Eric is singing at a funeral in an hour or so, which means I have to get ready!

To the Celine Dion concert. A friend of mine was given 2 free tickets. We are going to party!!!! Well as much as a mom of 2 and an 8 month preggo woman can.........

Shower

I did not send you guys, my blogger friends, an invitation to my shower in the mail. I didn't want anyone to feel obligated. But the more I thought about it, I thought about how great it would be to see you guys. So, here's the info. It is at Christ Pentecostal Church in Pelham, on State Park Road, the name of is used to be Cornerstone and it is beside that big brick house. The shower starts at 2 on Jan the 25th. If you can make it that would be great, if you can't I completely understand.

The 25th is also friend Sunday and lunch will be served after church. So, if you wanted to you could come to church at 10:30, eat lunch and chill till shower time. Or just come for church and lunch if you want.

I did hear back from Joy yesterday. Her family is really struggeling please keep them in your prayers. They are having visitation on the 17th and 18th, Sat. and Sun. night. The funeral is at 11 on Monday. Like I said things are extra hard on the family, the 17th would have been Josh's 23rd birthday. I can't even begin to imagine the pain of spending my son's birthday with his body in a funeral home. Oh God, give them your peace!

Giving credit where credit is due

So, I have to take this post to brag on my honey. The past couple of weeks have been the most "uncomfortable" for me. Corban is obviously growing and is keeping me awake more and more. My ankles are not liking the extra weight, I am having to spend most of my time sitting with my feet propped up. While Eric teases me he has been wonderful. Sunday night I got a foot rub, which felt really good, I normally don't like it when people touch my feet, except for a pedicure. He also made me pancakes for dinner, one of Corban's favorites. Yesterday morning it was freezing and he cranked my car for me and got the ice off the windshield. Last night, he went to visit a friend in the hospital at Shelby before his city council meeting. On his way home from the hospital he brought me Arby's curly fries and a vanilla milkshake. Oh, and I didn't even ask for it! Awwww, how sweet!



Josh update: Please keep his family in your prayers. On the news this morning they announced that his body would arrive today. I can only imagine how much more reality will sink in with the family...

Ready for Corban........

I have not heard back from Joy about more details about Josh. Here is a pic of us getting a mani/pedi before my wedding. She lived with me for about 9 months or so.......

Ok, so this is the most ready I have ever been to have this baby! I am up at least every hour to hour and a half to go to the rest room........ all night. My doc told me to double my water intake because my ankles and feet are MASSIVE, there is just no other word for it. Eric thinks it is funny, what else can you do but laugh? He keeps telling me I have kankles, you know, no ankles. My hands are also swollen and the wedding rings had to come off. so now I am an unmarried pregnate woman with no ankles and only 2 pairs of shoes that can go on my feet, my crocks- which were too tight yesterday, and my tennis shoes, when tied loosely. My flip-flops don't fit either. My family is totally amused at my size and are caling me tubby, which I don't guess I could blame them. I imagine I am quite a sight trying to get up off the couch. While it is difficult to put on my socks, I have the hardest time tieing my shoes... I may be insane after 6 more weeks of this. I now understand why people go to the doc and say GET IT OUT!!!!!!!!

Joshua Lee Wrath

This one goes out to my dear friend Joy and her brother Josh, who served in the U.S. Army 1st Infantry Division. Josh was killed Thursday in Kandahar (Afghanistan), when a car packed with explosives was detonated beside a busy market. He was one of two American soldier killed in the blast. Josh was a christian and loved the Lord with all of his heart. In Joy's email she speaks of Josh being Home, safe, sound and whole. Josh was in his early 20's and leaves behind a girlfriend of 5-6 years, who is also a precious christian. Please keep this family in your prayers.

My birth plan.....

People keep talking about their birth plan and have asked about mine, so here goes.

1. When real contractions start call Eric.
2. When they are regular and 5 minutes apart head for the hospital- unless water breaks, call Eric and head to the hospital.
3. Remind Eric to call parents and people on "the list" while trying to drive and telling me to breathe.
4. Remind Eric to tell people on "the list" to call the people on their "list."
5. Arrive at hospital, hand them the pre-register papers.
6. Be put in a room.
7. Ask for drugs.
8. Visit happy places.
9. Push when they tell me to (After all parties, other than Eric, have been ousted from the room).
10. Be a happy mommy.
11. Laugh in disbelief that they are actually letting me take a newborn home...... it really is amazing. You have to take 2 tests to drive a car but they will hand you a baby and just let you walk out the door with it..... deep thought of the day.

Back to the grind....

Well after 2 weeks of freedom I have to go back to work today. My next "vacation" will be in about 7 weeks when Corban should arrive, to turn our lives upside down- in a good way. I also have to go back to the doc.... we are up to our fun visits every 2 weeks now. Eric returned home yesterday!!!!!! More later.....

Eric is off to Fl to handle some family business...... It is just Corban and I so if you want to party I have free reign of the house!!!!!! Please pray for his saftey and wisdom in making decisions...
