I am a daughter of the King and this is my story. Sometimes it is quite serious or reflective but most often comical. I am the working mom of 2 boys who strives to be the wife and mother that would make the King pleased.

The dreaded phone call
So Corban has been running a temp this past weekend. We gave him tyolenol and motrin and they both did the trick. While Corban's first tooth didn't bother him much this second one, we thought, was giving him fits. Well he went to daycare yesterday and Eric and I went to work. After lunch Eric went to the Calera Chamber gold tournament to help out. Around 4:20 he gets a phone call from Corban's daycare. Corban has a temp of 104. something and is lethargic. THey stripped him down and put wet cool towels on him. Eric was there within 5 minutes and was on hold with the ped. office as he arrived. Eric quickly gave Corban some tyolnol and headed north. The ped office said that he could either go to after hours or they could see him in the morning. Eric was on his way to Children's after hours. In the mean time I walk out of my building at work and check my voice mail. Its Eric and Che says Corban's temp is 104 and they are on their way to Children's. I am off to Children's as fast as I can go.... When they were taken back Corban's temp had dropped to 102.5. I arrived and the staff was super nice, they sent me back to Corban's room. The doc was also super nice. She initially though it would be a virus since his temp was so high, but after looking in his ears determined it was a double ear infection. ... which was triggered by the cold he had almost a month ago....

Quick updates...
After Corban's surgery he is a different kid... not even half the spit up.
His hind quarters are healing nicely.
He will be 7 months old on the 20th... too fast!!
He can sit up by himself.
He likes to "talk"
He has discovered how to "bounce" in his bouncy thingie
He is on stage 2 foods.
Still no visible teeth, I can feel one on top though... leave it to my kid to do everything backwards.
He likes his teacher at daycare.
He got his 1st cold the week before last.... so sad!!!!
Corban's 6 month pics are on Eric's blog and our facebooks, no need to post 2x.
I managed to find a paci clip that doesn't use velcro so maybe he will not rip it off.
Corban's cousin Connor should be here Nov. 14th ish.
Corban has another cousin on the way, Eric's sister, its a girl, due to arrive in late Jan.
I like my new job, now that we are done with the "classroom" training and are on the phones the day flies by....... I talk to some very, stupid, um, interesting people.
Eric is still busy with the chamber and city council...... that he is still not "officially" on.
The chamber is gearing up for the Christmas parade....
Eric is also doing Relay for Life for the 3rd year running.
I am helping my dad coach some volleyball, when I can...
And that is what is going on in our world... oh, I need to remember to order ornaments form Cristal, I know if I put that on here I will read it later and remember to do it.....

Corban's Surgery
We started our day at 3:45am. We arrived at Children's Hospital a little after 5am, where the wait began.
After checking in and taking his vitals we were sent back to Corban's room to do more waiting. The rooms were small but nice. It was good to not just be out in one big waiting room with everyone. The had a refreshment area with sodas and coffee for the families. Corban was sleepy and starving... since I woke him up at 1:45 to feed him since he could not have milk after 2am this morning.
We had to put him in a little hospital gown, and that is when reality hit me. Some stranger was going to take my baby away from me and put him to sleep. Don't get me wrong, all of the staff and the surgon were great. I just didn't want to give my baby up!!!!
He really was a trooper. I know he was starving because they did not come to take him back till a few minutes after 8. He was a little fussy but considering the circumstances he really did great, even the surgeon commented on how surpised he was at Corban's behavior.
The long and the short of it- Corban had an afistula, in english there was an opening in the skin in his rectum area. Well when poop passes through there some would sit in the opening. All poop contains e. coli. The opening became infected with e.coli and it attempted to find a way out by forming a trail from the opening that was infected to the skin's surface thus we have a boil. The surgeon took a laser and "burned" all of the effected tissue in his bum and put a couple of stitches to help keep it closed, although we can not see the stitches. It looks like a little burned line on his bum. We are just happy that it is GONE!!!!!

The results are in
Corban's doc finally called back about 5:30 last night to give us the results of the culture she took. She said the boil has been caused by ecoli and to finishe out the medication that he is currently on and if it doesn't solve the problem to call her back and she would send us to a ped. surgeon. So, I hang up to tell Eric and 2 seconds later my phone rings again. It was the doc saying that she just happened to flip the page over and see the results were back as to what all kinds of medicines he can take to get rid of the infection. Guess what?!?!?!? The $80 Rx that she called in last week that he is currently on will not clear the infection up. She needs to call something different in. So she mentions the name of the stuff Corban has had 3 rounds of. I told her we tried that and it helped but never cleared it up. So, she says she will call in some other medicine. I asked her if there was a generic form of it and she says no. I said well we just paid $80 for the last Rx and we really don't need to take another hit like that again. She said oh, insurance doesn't cover it? I said well I guess all but $80 of it. I told her to call back in the original stuff and we would try that. If that doesn't work we are going to the surgeon. And I am changing his doctor!!!! GGGEEEEEZZZZZ!!!! I am so mad right now!!!!!

Corban 5 months
- weighs 16lbs. 3 oz.
- wants to grab everything- including my glasses, and he is so quick about it
- loves to stick his hand in anything you have on a plate
- loves food! he likes sweet potatoes, carrots, sweet peas, bananas he still makes funny faces at apples and pears but doesn't object to eating them.. we have peaches and green beans to go...
- he knows how to hold medicine in his mouth and spit it out- especially this last Rx because it is nasty!
- every time I put him on his tummy I put toys in front of him for him to reach and grab. Well he grabs the toy he wants and then rolls over on his back to play with it.
- he can sit up unsupported, he uses his arms, for a few minutes then he sees something he wants and falls on his face trying to get it.
- he will still not sleep through the night. I love the people wo tell me to put him in bed with us and let him fall asleep nursing.... that only works for the kid who can get full off of one side... not my 16lb baby!
- he is not crawling yet but he does manage to scoot to get what he wants
- he is very ticklish on his back, sometimes he laughs about it and others he holds his breath till his face turns red.
- i find it entertaining when I go to get him at night and he has done a complete 180 in his crib.
- he can put his passy in his mouth all by himself.... unless it is the middle of the night, he for some reason needs me to do it....
- he loves to smiile and laugh
- he loves dogs, he completely freezes when a dog walks into a room to watch- when Zoe licks his feet he laughs
- any time you try to wipe his mouth he opens his mouth and tries to stick the burpcloth in his mouth
- EVERYTHING goes in the mouth
- he loves to talk and has added "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" to his vocab.
- he is a typical boy and loves anything that makes noise.
- he loves to hit
- any time you are holding him and talking he holds up his hand to your lips
- if he is reaching for something and you don't let him have it, if he decides it is worth it he will throw a fit......man I didn't think that hit till later.....
- he thinks his hands belong in your mouth nad that your belong in his
- he thinks its funny when you hiccup
- he tries to copy anything you do with your mouth with his mouth... lets just say hours of entertainment...
